I made a weekend trip 400+ miles , its my first time in brand new Model Y, had issues in beginning, I couldn't make a phone call and while trying to figure out, I got warnings to pay attention then, it said "Auto steer disabled" but it would not let me take control, I had to put some effort on the steering and then it gave causing me to jerk into next lane, then I got time out for it and had to pull over for a reset. So I had issues of it going 15 miles over the limit even tho I had it set to 10%, I think I tried 0% too, it was confusing, I constantly had to use the scroll wheel to set max speed. I finally found if I put in Chill it will stay under speed limit. I need lessons on this anyone has videos tutorial? I basically don't want to go more than 5 mph over limit, but in 25 mile hour zones go 0%, a bit annoying. and what does 'Absolute' do? why would this be used?
207 miles home was better, just toggled between chill and standard depending how crowded it got on highway.

Hey there! Sorry to hear about the bumpy start with your Model Y. Glad it got better on the way home. For your speed issues, try this: Go to Controls > Safety > Speed Limit Mode, set your max speed (e.g., 25 mph for 25 mph zones, or 65 mph for a 60 mph limit), turn it ON, and add a PIN. This caps your speed exactly where you want it, perfect for keeping it at or below in 25 mph zones and no more than 5 mph over elsewhere. For Autopilot, in Controls > Autopilot > Set Speed, pick "Speed Limit" and set a +5 mph offset for consistency. "Chill" mode (Controls > Dynamics > Acceleration) also helps keep speeds down, like you found.

The "Absolute" setting in Controls > Autopilot > Speed Limit Warning lets you manually set a speed (20–140 mph) for warnings, ignoring the detected limit. It’s handy if signs are off or you want a custom alert, like 30 mph in a 25 mph zone.

For the Autopilot "Auto steer disabled" issue, it sounds like it sensed you weren’t attentive enough, so keep your hands on the wheel and respond to prompts. Check out Tesla’s “Meet Your Model Y” videos at Tesla Support for great tutorials on all this. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply, I will look into what you said, custom alert was just one setting from what I remember, I did not see options to set for different zones.
